West Cape Province The De Hoop Whale Trail has been developed by Cape Nature Conservation at the De Hoop Nature Reserve near Bredasdorp. The trail traverses one of the Western Cape's most unique and diverse nature reserves, while providing nature lovers and those who love the outdoors with unique comfortable overnight accommodation situated at spectacular locations. The Otter Trail is South Africa's first organized hiking trail. It winds from the Storms River mouth along the coast to the Groot River estuary at Nature's Valley. The trail is not for the unfit. It has many steep inclines and descents with some rock clambering and river crossings. The crossing of the Lottering and Bloukrans rivers need to be planned to coordinate with low-tide.
